About us

The Setting Maul is a place where we discuss all things Masonic. We are three Brothers who’ve banded together in an outside the lodge experience to try to remind others (and ourselves) what Brotherly Love and Friendship is truly all about. From time to time, in any human organization, bureaucracy and political dealings get in the way of what truly matters – The Setting Maul and its members hope to dispel myths, rumors, and the unfortunate parts of your/our Masonic experience by providing some insight, tom-foolery and general good fun and enlightenment.

We Brothers of the Craft are Master Masons (in good standing) in Lodges based in Utah – under the Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Masons of Utah. We kind of like the symbolic idea of assuming the character of the Three Ruffians we all know so well. In doing so we hope to Symbolically put forth the possible idea that Ja, Jo, Jum were trying to tell our Grand Master H.A. that something was wrong with the Craft in general – political machinations that rise up in any organization had (at their time) made them doubt that they were, in fact viewed as equals – their actions just got out of their control because they approached a real problem in the wrong way.

At thesettingmaul.com we hope to find the “Right” way to let our politically minded Brothers know to remember the teachings of the Level…

We post under the moniker(s) Jubela, Jubelo and Jubelum and Peba (our adopted Brother (or J1, J2, J3 & Peba)).

The opinions of the members of www.thesettingmaul.com are just that, OPINIONS. Such opinions/ideas expressed are not those of the Lodges/Grand Lodges, Regular/Irregular/Strange/Co-Mason or otherwise in any locale and should not be viewed as such. We are Master Masons who claim the right to have our own points of view and to share them but do not expect anyone else to espouse what we put forth herein.
